Holiday Honeys: St Patrick's Day

The original caption for this photo was:

"April 1946 --- Actress Adele Mara is dressed for St. Patrick's Day. Perhaps the four leaf clovers will bring her luck. --- "

This does nothing to explain the fact that she appears to be about to heave a brick at someone, which is not a tradition that is generally associated with St Patrick's Day, as far as I know. Another slight incongruity is that St Patrick's Day was March 17th, 1946, so she's doing her clover-decorated brick chunking in the wrong month.

  1. Perhaps the bricks are a reference to Krazy Kat? Even then I'm not sure it makes much sense! 'cause that would make her the mean ol' Ignatz the mouse terrorizing Krazy, who interprets his bricks as signs of love...
